Translation of Item 4 on Page 4 of the written judgment of criminal case on Rebecca Hui-Ting Liao's murdering Yi-Li Yang of the Taichung District Court of Taiwan dated March 23 1999.
四. The second investigation the time when Yi-Li Yang died in his Canadian residence, according to the inquest of the coroner office in Quebec, was originally determined to be on October 28, 1996 Canadian Time, which was proved by the official letter CIB (86), criminal no. 53850 of Criminal Investigation Bureau, Ministry of the Interior, with P.2 which was translated from the Canadian coroner's inquest report (i.e. P.257) as attached.   As the result of the re-discussion between the Canadian police and CIB of Taiwan, the time of Yang's death was revised to be several days around October 28, which was re-proved by the special-case- discussion report of CIB of the citizen Yi-Li Yang's death in Canada (i.e. P.256).  However, it was found that at the same time of Yang's date of death as previously determined, the defendant Rebecca Hui-Ting Liao was studying in the Royal Conservatory of Music, which was proved by the notarized attendance book and roll book of the Royal Conservatory of Music which was affirmed by T.E.C.O, Toronto and was notarized by notary public in Ontario.    The defendant went to school for her classes on time during October 21 to November 01, which was within the possible time when Yang died, her attendance was also verified by the roll book of the school.  Also, it is 6 or 7 hours driving distance between the defendant's residence in Toronto and Yang's residence in Montreal, the defendant’s statement was clear and definite.    The defendant has enough proof to show she was not on the spot when Yang died.   The statements by the defendant are credible.
[Note]: The class program which Rebecca Hui-Ting Liao provided to the Court (P.281) proves she had classes from Monday to Friday, total 13 hours per week. That is to say, from Oct. 21 through Nov. 1, total 240 hours but Liao’s class time only 25 hours.   And the 14 hours of no class time are enough for her to travel between Toronto and Montreal.   In addition, the judgement report which indicated that Rebecca Liao's statement are believed is nonsense because Rebecca Liao's replies to the Canadian police, Taiwanese police and the Taichung District Prosecutor Attorney are different, and even her telephone bill did not match to what she had testified, etc.
